Portola Magnet Science Fair

posted Feb 4, 2014, 10:14 AM by Andrew Hyman
Our kids worked very hard on their amazing Science Projects.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they could discuss their experiments and findings with scientists and engineers?
Mrs. Shah, Mr. Okimura and the MPA are holding our first ever Portola Magnet Science Fair.
Do you know a scientist/engineer/retiree who can help highly gifted, science-loving students develop their scientific thinking and learn about real-world applications?  Please ask them to judge our Science Fair!
  • Scientist, engineer, science teacher, or retiree/educated in these fields
  • Can be at Portola Middle School on Monday, February 24, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Please send name, phone# and email of interested judges to:
We also need your help with ...

Volunteers (non-judges):
  • Help during Science Fair (supervise displays & students, support judges, handle ballots)
  • Feb. 24 is Judge Interviews. Feb. 25 is visits from other Portola classes who can vote for certain categories. Parents can visit after school 3-4 PM.
  • Please sign up for volunteer shifts here
Because of the tight timeline, this year the Science Fair will be for 7th and 8th graders only. They have been working on their Science Projects since all and have turned their displays in to teachers already.
The Science Fair is only 2 weeks away!  Please contact us right away if you have a Judge candidate, at
Thank you!
