MODEL UNITED NATIONS
After-School Enrichment Program: 
at MPA meeting 
Wednesday, November 20, 
6:30 – 7:00 PM in Portola Library. 
  
Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations that gives students experience in global issues, international relations and diplomacy.  Participants will: 
- Meet on Thursdays after school for 1 hour, starting January 2014 (TBA)
- Practice public speaking and negotiating skills. Research, debate and formulate solutions for international issues.
- Attend a MUN Training in central California, March 14-16
- Choose the role of an international diplomat, journalist, advocate, or attorney
- Take on their roles with middle school students from all over California in the MUN Summit at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, April 24-27
 
$850 fee covers both Training and Summit, including hotel, meals, bussing. Limited scholarships may be available for
Title 1 students.  
 
Past Model UN participants include: Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, Chelsea Clinton, Samuel L Jackson, Ryan Seacrest and Lisa Simpson :-)
