Hello 8th Graders,

Attached are the Packing List and Itinerary for the Camp Whittle trip.  Here are highlights of the Trip Info meeting:

·      Departure: On Monday, please be at school by 8:00am. Students need to check in, receive their room and group assignments,  give their prescription medication to parent chaperone Rafael Bermudez, and load their luggage, all before boarding the bus.

·      Return: On Friday buses depart Camp Whittle at 1pm.  We estimate they will arrive at school at about 3pm but there is no guarantee, so parents are responsible for pickup.  We will send email updates with estimated arrival time.

·      Grad Night: For students who are going to Magic Mountain upon return:  the buses are scheduled to leave Portola at 5pm, so be prepared to transition directly in case the Whittle buses are late.  Please make sure someone will take your Camp Whittle luggage before you board the Grad Night bus as you will not be allowed to take it into the theme park.

·      Accommodations: Each Lodge has four Rooms that sleep up to 6, with a common area in the middle.  Each room has its own restroom and shower.  3 rooms in each lodge will be for students and 1 room for the chaperone.  There will be 3 lodges for boys and 2 lodges for girls.

·      What to bring: In addition to attached Packing List, we highly recommend you also bring insect spray and 2+ towels

·      News: Parents will receive email updates throughout the week, plus sample activity photos if possible.  If you’re receiving this email, you are on our contact list. Please let me know if you want to add any email addresses to the list.  Chaperones and student who take photos will be encouraged to upload them on our private photoshare site.

·      If you still need to turn in any forms, please have your child give them to my son, Kyle.

Thank you,

Jennifer Gusdorf
