Annual Giving Campaign

Our Annual Giving Campaign is off to a stellar start!  We’ve already raised over $30,000, more than halfway to our $55,000 goal!  Thanks to all the families who have already made their donations, attached you will find an up-to-date list of donors! 

GIFTS:  As you may remember, all families who give a donation will receive a window cling with our new logo.  Families who give between $300.00 and $599.00 will receive a customized squeeze flashlight, shown below.  And each family that gives $600 or more by October 4th will receive the flashlight plus a customized 2 GB swivel flash drive customized with our new logo:

 The requested donation this year is once again $600. This is a suggested amount; we gratefully accept donations above and below $600, as well as installments. 

RAFFLE:  And families who make their donation by Oct. 4th, 2013, will be entered into a drawing to win a parking spot in a campus lot for Open House (2 spots raffled) and 8th Grade Culmination (2 spots raffled to 8th grade families).  We will continue to accept donations after that deadline and those families will continue to receive the window cling.  Remember, we hope to achieve 100% participation, at ANY LEVEL!

 

EXPENDITURES: Here are SOME of the expenditures that we are planning to make this year with your donations. Teachers are compiling a more ambitious Wish List right now.

·         Purchase of new computers, technology, classroom supplies and hands-on projects

·         New High School level textbooks for 8th Grade History
·        
Classroom stipends for Magnet, music and drama teachers

·        
Textbook sets for classrooms so students do not have to carry heavy books home

·        
Daytime field trips (your donation helps to fully fund 2 trips per grade level this year)

·        
Academic competitions such as MathCounts, AMC 10, AMC 8, Battle of the Books

·        
Music program (contribute to teacher’s salary)

·        
More hands-on science experiments, including genetics lab plus off-campus Science Fairs

 

HOW TO DONATE: There are a few options for making your donation:

  1. Send a check in with your child to give to their homeroom teacher, or mail to the magnet office (address below), including attachment “Form #1”.
  2. Go to the Portola Magnet Parents' Association page at Portolamagnet.com and click the word 'Donate' to give online, either through Paypal or your credit card.
  3. Make your donation in installments, by sending in multiple checks (post dated and signed, with attachment “Form #1”) OR sign up for monthly credit card donations to be charged on the 1st of each month in the amount you request by filling out attachment “Form #2”.  If you should need to cancel future payments please send a note to the magnet parents through the magnet office or via email (addresses available on the parent website, Portolamagnet.com).  

 If your company provides Matching Grants, please provide us with any paperwork or contact information we will need. 

For those who have already made their donations, a big thank you - the gifts will be coming in about a month as we await shipments.
